Congenital deformities are dealt with by specialist teams,
often led by plastic surgeons. Some form of cleft lip/palate occurs
in up to one in 600 births. Other craniofacial deformities are
caused by Apert's disease and Crouzon's Disease. Premature fusing
of the bones of the skull can also lead to significant skull
deformities with heads that are either overly elongated or very
squat. cranio facially-trained plastic surgeons combine with
neurosurgeons to reshape such deformities of the skull and face and
allow these children to lead a more normal life.
